In 2012, the Thai government under PM Yingluck Shinawatra banned the Shakespearean horror movie \u2018<em>Shakespeare Must Die<\/em>\u2019, a Thai adaptaion of \u2018<em>Macbeth<\/em>\u2019, as damaging to national pride and a threat to national security. The filmmakers recorded their struggle to free their film in a documentary \u2018<em>Censor Must Die<\/em>, which received a historic ruling from the censors as being exempt from the censorship process, since it was \u201cmade from events that really happened.\u201d Even so, \u2018<em>Censor Must Die\u2019<\/em> still couldn\u2019t be released as the censors also threatened to sue any cinema that would show the film.
