But to be haunted not by a ghostly but human fiend\u2014an old love who refuses to let go; who continues, through hypnotism, to take over your mind\u2014this is surely another level of intensity. Mesmerising, with its chilling dialogue, vampire-like longing\u2014\u201cYour neck is still so white\u2026\u201d, and strange shapes and eerie movements evocative of Tod Browning\u2019s \u2018Dracula\u2019 of 1931.
