Notice of Postponement due to Plague Apocalypse

The Coronavirus pandemic crisis has made it impossible to predict or plan the future with any accuracy. The venue for the Amazing Stoner Movie Fest, Cinema Oasis, has been closed since 18 March 2020. Although the official lockdown order for cinemas in Bangkok was lifted on 1 June, Foundation Cinema Oasis has made the decision not to reopen possibly until late 2020 or even the start of 2021, depending on the apocalyptic degree of the situation. The recent 3-day shutdown order on a mega-mall cinema after a big fan event has finally convinced us that social distancing is incompatible with crowded events. While Thailand has done remarkably well so far to stem the pandemic, international travel restrictions including quarantine requirements are likely to remain for the foreseeable future.

For this reason beyond all our control, the Amazing Stoner Movie Fest 2020 must be postponed until further notice.

The 20 June deadline for submissions to vie for the Golden Ganja award is also extended accordingly until further notice.

The next festival will be known as the 2020/21 edition, an amalgamation of 2020 and 2021.
